A Manchester United star has overtaken Lionel Messi among the world's most valuable footballers, while Cristiano Ronaldo has dropped far outside the 10 highest-valued stars.

The International Centre for sports Studies (CIES), a Swiss-based football statistics institute, has published its latest update on transfer values of Europe's top players. Multiple variables were taken into consideration, including players performances, age, contract length and potentially interested clubs.
French sensation Kylian Mbappe has stayed at the top after his worth increased from €252 million (R4 billion) to €265.2 million (R4.23 billion). He is followed by Raheem Sterling, who overtook Mohamed Salah in second place.

The Manchester City winger is now valued at €223.7 million (R3.57 billion), while Salah's worth has dropped from €219.6 million (R3.5 billion) to €175.1 million (R2.79 billion).
Jadon Sancho, with €168.9 million (2.7 billion), and Sadio Mane, with €155.6 million (R2.48 billion), complete the top five, before Harry Kane and Marcus Rashford follow.
FC Barcelona superstar Lionel Messi has fallen from fourth into seventh position after his value decreased from €167.4 million (R2.67 billion) to €125.5 million (R2 billion).

While Antoine Griezmann and Lautaro Martinez take up the final two spots in the top 10, Ronaldo has moved down to 49th position after the Juventus superstar saw his value drop from €118.1 million (R1.88 billion) to €80.3 million (R1.28 billion).
