African Star Among 10 Players In Europe Whose Values Have Increased The Most

With an African star being among the likes of Paris Saint-Germain's Kylian Mbappe and FC Barcelona's Paulinho as players in Europe whose values have increased the most over the past six months, here are the 10 stars who have seen their stocks climb the most in that period.

The ranking consists of players who are playing the top five leagues in Europe, and features only footballers who did not change teams or extend their contracts between September 2017 and March 2018.

The first three places are taken up by players in the Premier League, and in the No. 1 spot is Liverpool winger Mohamed Salah. The Egyptian was estimated to be worth about €88.1 million (R1.28 billion) in September but his value has since increased by €74.7 million (R1.09 billion), giving him a total worth of €162.8 million (R2.37 billion), according to the CIES Football Observatory.

Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes was a new arrival at the Etihad this season, and has seen his value rise by €74.4 million (R1.08 billion) since his move from Benfica. The Brazilian was valued at €24.3 million (R354 million) and is now worth €98.7 million (R1.44 billion).

Germany international and Manchester City winger Leroy Sane is third with an estimated worth of €151.2 million (R2.20 billion). The 22-year-old was valued at €88.2 million (R1.28 billion) back in September and has seen his stake increase by €63 million (R919 million).

In fourth place is Paris Saint-Germain striker Mbappe, with an increase of €54.7 million (R798 million), while Brazil international Gabriel Jesus is fifth with his €53.1 million (R775 million) rise in value.

Making up the rest of the top 10, according to CIES, are Joe Gomez, Paulinho, Davinson Sanchez, Sergej Milinkovic-Savic and Florian Thauvin.
