A Chippa United midfielder could be set for a move to Gauteng as he will be coming to the end of his contract with the Gqeberha outfit.
With the Chilli Boys set to retain their top-flight status through the promotion/relegation play-offs, the club is at risk of losing Thabiso Lebitso who is believed to be on the radar of newly-promoted Sekhukhune United.
According to sources, the 29-year-old is likely to begin talks with Sekhukhune this week now that Chippa will be done with the play-offs, as the club is left with only one match scheduled against Royal AM on Wednesday.
"Newcomers Sekhukhune have turned their attention to Thabiso Lebitso in an effort to add some experience to their newly promoted side. The club has made contact with the player's management team, but the parties are waiting for the play-offs to finish," said the source.
Contacted for comment, Lebitso's representative Mandla Mthembu did not rule out the possibility of a move for the attacking midfielder.
"Look, nothing official has been concluded with regards to Thabiso. His contract is left with few hours to run, and we are working towards securing a deal for him," he said.
Lebitso made 19 appearances in Chippa's 2020/21 DStv Premiership campaign and indications are that the Eastern Cape club could make a last-minute attempt to keep the player after finishing with the play-offs.
