You Choose Your Starting XI Of The Week

The Betway Premiership took centre stage this past weekend with Stellenbosch FC having to come from behind to secure a point against Richards Bay FC at Danie Craven Stadium on Friday night to kick-off an exciting weekend of football. Thato Mohlamme scored the opener for the Natal Rich Boys in the second minute of the game before Fawaaz Basadien restored parity from the penalty spot in the 78th minute, which saw the two teams share the spoils.

Orlando Pirates avenged their 1-0 loss away to Cape Town City with a 2-1 win in the second round fixture between the two teams at Orlando Stadium on Saturday afternoon. Haashim Domingo slotted home with a powerful shot from a cross, inside the Bucs box, to beat goalkeeper Sipho Chaine hands down. The Citizens continued to push for a second goal but their decision-making let them down at times, in the final third.

Tshegofatso Mabasa scored an equalizer in the 67th minute, following substitutions and tactical switches made by coach Jose Riveiro. Just when the game looked set to finish as a draw, with both teams gunning for a winning goal, substitute Goodman Mosele put Bucs ahead for the first time in the game, three minutes before regulation time.

Sekhukhune United raided Buffalo City Stadium and left with maximum points when they visited Chippa United on Saturday. A solitary goal from Shaune Mogaila proved enough for coach Lehlohonolo Seema's team to beat coach Thabo September's side. The win sees Babina Noko move up to third on the log, unseating Polokwane City from the spot they'd almost make their own for the better part of this season.

Mamelodi Sundowns were looking to make amends after their 1-0 league loss against TS Galaxy 11 days before their second round clash at Lucas Masterpieces Moripe Stadium on Saturday. The Chloorkop-based side did exactly that, make amends, as they hammered coach Adnan Beganovic's team 4-1 to send out a strong message to anyone looking to threaten their league title defense. Peter Shalulile scored one of the earliest goals in the PSL era, with Iqraam Rayners scoring the second six minutes later. Simphiwe Mahlangu pulled one back for The Rockets in the 10th minute before Jayden Adams found the back of the net for coach Miguel Cardoso's side to make it 3-1 in the 38th minute. Rayners was back, 10 minutes later, to seal the deal and send The Brazilians to 48 points from 18 matches so far.

Co-coaches, Arthur Zwane and Vusumuzi Vilakazi will be happy with the way their AmaZulu FC side bounced back from the disappointing loss against Marumo Gallants last week, when they defeated relegation-threatened Magesi FC 3-0 at Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday. Goals from Nkosikhona Radebe in the 21st minute, Tshepang Moremi in the 63rd minute and Andiswa Sithole in the 76th minute sent Usuthu to fifth position on the log with 26 points from 19 games.

In the only league fixture on Sunday afternoon, Marumo Gallants hosted Polokwane City at the Dr Molemela Stadium and played to a goalless draw.
