Rulani’s Love Letter Ruffled Feathers At Sundowns?

The leak of a private letter by Rulani Mokwena could have played it's part to his departure from Mamelodi Sundowns, after new revelations emerged.

The Brazilians crashing out of the CAF Champions League in the semi-finals last season seemingly played a big role in deciding the fate of Mokwena.

However, the 37-year-old coach had a chance to salvage his job after Masandawana reached the final of the Nedbank Cup against rivals Orlando Pirates.

Even though a 2-1 defeat to the Buccaneers was damaging and could have sealed Mokwena's fate, the leak of a letter he sent to Khuliso Mudau, pleading with him to play through his injury in the latter stages of the game, could have ruffled feathers at the Tshwane giants, after the photographer, who snapped the contents of the letter, Pitsi 'Vino Snap' Matlou revealed that he got "threats" before he could publish the letter.

"There was so much controversy with that note, I got so much threats, I got so much phone calls and messages and what people don't know is that I spent three weeks with that note in my phone without posting it, just waiting for the right time," Matlou said in an interview on 947's MSW.

"I never had so many missed calls, notifications, messages. I knew I gave them something they have never seen before and I was very proud, instead of being sad.

"That image I sent it to Khuliso, I said to 'Sailor', 'This photo has never been seen before, I know you're my friend and for my own work purpose, I need to share this. We a had a long conversation about it. We eventually came to an agreement, that you know what Vino, 'you were doing your work after all, it's not like you were fabricating anything and the rest was history," 'Vino Snap' added.

The letter by Mokwena to Mudau read: "I said I could take a bullet for you!! I am asking you not to give up on me!!"
