Often disregarded because of age, the veterans in the PSL still have a big role to play and Soccer Laduma looks at the 10 oldest players in the league going into the new DStv Premiership season.
Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune is one of the longest-serving players still involved in the game, having been promoted to the Amakhosi first team in 2004 under then coach Ted Dumitru.
At Chiefs, the 35-year-old Khune is the oldest player in the Chiefs squad. TS Galaxy's Vuyo Mere and Elias Pelembe of Royal AM are the oldest players in the league at 38.
Galaxy have 37-year-old Lindokuhle Mbatha on their books, having recently handed him a new deal. Cape Town City duo Mpho Makola and Hugo Marques are both 36 going into the new season.
Like Khune, there are quite a number of players who are 35. This list includes the likes of Thamsanqa Gabuza, Lehlohonolo Majoro, Ricardo Nascimento and Lee Langeveldt.
