'Masha', 30, was given the honour of captaining the Amakhosi during Itumeleng Khune's injury, and has managed to retain it even once his teammate returned to full fitness.
Now, talking in this week's issue of Soccer Laduma, the centre back says that the captaincy at Chiefs is 'just about the armband'.
Mashamaite explained, "To me this captaincy thing is just about the armband. I don't know if my game has changed since I became the captain at Chiefs compared to when I was not the captain. It's just a little bit of status and, at times, it's overrated and blown out of proportion. For me, whether I am wearing the armband or not, it's all the same.
"I love this game. I come from a family that loves this game. My sisters and brothers and my extended family have played and loved this game. I am carrying that spirit. I was just lucky to be one of the people able to represent my family name, so the rest."

The defender is set to keep hold of the captain's armband for the remainder of the 2014/15 season, and will hope to end it by lifting the trophy when all is said and done.
