Ruzaigh Gamildien on his best-ever season

Ruzaigh Gamildien on his best-ever season

Ruzaigh Gamildien enjoyed a stellar season leading the line for Swallows FC in their maiden DStv Premiership campaign and one of the reasons has now been revealed.

Despite breaking into the top-flight almost 10 years ago, Gamildien has not managed to get into double figures in terms of goals – that is until this campaign.

Roped in by the Birds from Chippa United at the start of the season, Swallows' head coach Brandon Truter placed his faith in a man who undoubtedly had ability, but whose track record was reason for concern.

The gamble it seems, paid off for Swallows – as they managed a fifth-place finish on the standings with Gamildien finishing the campaign on 11 goals – as well as earning himself his maiden Bafana Bafana cap.

Now, the 32-year-old has revealed that one of the secrets behind his success this season, has been the Business, Life, Academic, Sports and Coaching (BLASC) program, a coaching and personal mentorship program, established by former Santos FC player Fagan Muller, that he has been a part of since 2019 while still on the books of Steenberg United.

"The BLASC program obviously made me think about my discipline and to stay focused and the mindfulness was the one that stood out for me because it repaired past thinking into positive thinking and the communication between myself and where I would like to be," Gamildien told the Siya crew.

"It brings out the drive and the motivation again like it re-sparks you spiritually, and if you make the proper sacrifice, you will reap the reward and it will benefit you in your long-term thinking and to strategize what you are gonna do after football and nobody wants to be broke after football, so you need to decide in which field you are gonna generate your energy," he added.

As reported by the Siya crew, Gamildien has been heavily linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs and was in advanced talks with the Soweto giants.
