Ria Ledwaba has seemingly declared war against South African Football Association (SAFA) president Danny Jordaan after going down in the election fight for SAFA presidency at the weekend.
Jordaan received 186 votes to stand in his third term of office. In comparison, Ledwaba got 27 and Mohlabeng 8 votes in the elections at a Safa elective congress at the Sandton Convention Centre on Saturday.
A week after revealing to Soccer Laduma that SAFA has fraudulently put an article in the statutes saying previous NEC members can't be nominated, Ledwaba has put his foot down and insisted that she will not rest until Jordaan is "out of football" as she deems the SAFA president a bad apple.
"In my life, I do not worship people. I respect my president. That's why I keep reaching out to him, but he is not that kind of a leader you can reach out to—[I'm an enemy of the president right now]. From 2020, he has not spoken to me unless I send him something. If I call, he will not pick up my call, but if I send him a WhatsApp message, he responds. I have not had a one-on-one meeting talking about SAFA. This is the kind of leadership I am talking about," Ledwaba told Soccer Laduma.
At the weekend, Ledwaba was quoted by TimesLives as saying that the SAFA constitution was changed just to suit certain individuals.
"It has to be a fair ground where everybody has got a fair opportunity. But in this election, we all know there was no fair ground.
"Until Dr Jordaan is out of football, I will not rest. I don't think he's good for our football. I believe he has done his part for all these years he has been in football. But I think you cannot have football. That's a one-man show.
"It's the truth. They can say whatever they say, but the bottom line is that's how he rules at the association," she added.
