South African football referees received the nod from FIFA despite backlash after their officiating was brought into question after the MTN8 quarterfinals last weekend.
Victor Gomes and Zakhele Siwela made headlines in the cup clash between Mamelodi Sundowns and Kaizer Chiefs.
Both match officials were thrust into the spotlight, with indications that crucial incidents were missed during the penalty shootout.
The duo will be flying the South African flag in the 2022 FIFA World Cup qualifiers where they have been appointed to officiate in a game between Sudan and Guinea-Bissau on the 7th of September at the Al Hilal stadium.
Gomes and Siwela will be joined by Athenkosi Ndongeni as the second assistant referee, Thando Ndzandzeka as fourth official, alongside Radwan Abdul Hamid from Egypt as the referees accessor and Letti Mike as match commissioner.
