South Africa play Algeria this evening in the U23 African Cup of Nations semifinal in Senegal, with the winner of the game going on to not only secure a spot in the tournament's final, but also the Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.
While the Algerians are unbeaten so far in the U23 AFCON, and have only conceded one, Schürmann says that his side are not the favourites, however did say that he felt his team deserved their spot in the final four.
Speaking ahead of the game, the Swiss coach said, "We are not favourites against South Africa, both teams are equal. We take every match as it comes. We deserve our place among the last four. Like all teams we want to qualify for the Olympics and go as far as possible in the tournament. I'm very proud of my players for what they have shown till now.
"South Africa is a good side and has played well so far. There is a lot expectation of us. This is an important match and we have to put all our cards on table. It is also important to be fully concentrated."
The game will take place later this evening (20h30 SA time), shortly after the other finalist has been decided when Senegal tackle Nigeria at 17h00.
