NFD Nedbank Cup Qualifiers

Today saw another exciting round of NFD Nedbank Cup qualification matches in which Jomo Cosmos, Lamontville Golden Arrows, African Warriors and Black Leopards successfully overpowered their opponents. Jomo Cosmos, who between 1986 and 1996 made five national cup finals when the national cup competition fell under the umbrella of other sponsors, walloped Cape Town All Stars 3-0 with a brace from Tebogo Makobela, while Nhlakanipho Khumalo netted a penalty. All Stars had previously twice made the Last 32 when they were in the third tier but Ezenkosi showed them no mercy. On the other hand, Arrows were given a tough time by a nine-man Milano but eventually managed a 2-1 victory thanks to a late Zukile Mkhize penalty. Earlier, Byrone Hendricks opened the scoring for Eezy my Kinnes but Abafana Bes'Thende then levelled matters with a Brendon Parusnath set piece prior to grabbing the winner that set in motion a period of rough play, in which both Hendricks and Wassem Isaacs were red carded. Warriors also beat Garankuwa United by the same score with Rodney Nzimande and Reason Chiloane their heroes at Charles Mopeli. Black Leopards, the 2011 finalists knocked out Witbank Spurs 3-1 following accurate finishes from the reliable Siphelele Ntshangase, Ivan Mahangwahaya and Meshack Maphangule. These four clubs together with FC Cape Town, Thanda Royal Zulu, Maluti FET College and Vasco da Gama will now be in the draw for the Last 32.
