Insiders close to the club have indicated that Maema is believed to be likely to leave the Brazilians at the start of next season as the technical team aims to reshape what is expected to be a smaller squad.
The Siya sources added that Maema might be among the midfielders who could miss out as the club downsizes its roster.
"Things are not looking good for Neo (Maema). He could be one of the players who is set to leave the club next season. You know, the coach, who is no longer new has his own players who he wants to continue with from next season and it seems Maema is set for the exit door as it feels he is not in the coach's plans as things look at the moment," the Siya source stated.
A second insider noted that while Maema still has a contract running until June 2026, any move may involve a sale, a loan, or a settlement agreement.

"Yes, as much as they would like to let him go, he still has a contract with Sundowns. It's either they sell him, loan him out or reach an amicable solution to his move. But since they are looking at cutting down the squad this could be one player who they are ready to let go," the second source revealed.
Maema, now 29, joined Sundowns from Bloemfontein Celtic in 2021 on a five-year contract that expires in June 2026.
Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
