Mpumalanga Black Aces Sold

Black Aces club chairmen, Mario Morfou and George Morfou have released a statement on the sale of Mpumalanga Black Aces.

FULL STATEMENT

Mario Morfou and George Morfou today announced that Mpumalanga Black Aces has been sold.

The decision, pains us but the reality is after 14 years, we received a very lucrative offer that made pure business sense.

We had been in contact with former Ajax Cape Town boss John Comitis for the past three months and told him that that the club was not for sale.

Two weeks ago, he gave us another offer that we could not refuse – a very lucrative offer!

We decided that we would sell on the basis that certain suspensive conditions be fulfilled. One of those conditions was that he must consider remaining in the Mpumalanga Province.

We would like to sincerely thank all the supporters of Mpumalanga for their valued support over the years. We have met many of you and can understand your grief and we are thinking of you.

It was our intention to build this club into the top 4 best clubs in South Africa and we did just that this season.

We are truly indebted to all the loyal fans, players and coaches that we have come into contact with over the past 14 years and will have fond memories of the challenges from the day we bought the Witbank Black Aces Vodacom franchise – right up to this season, which was the pinnacle of the clubs success.

While we say goodbye to PSL football we can assure you all that we will remain committed to grassroot football development and assure you that someday we will be back in top flight football.
