Marumo Gallants have confirmed that the club is close to a finalizing a new three-year deal for defender Tshepo Gumede, while captain Lehlohonolo Nonyane has been rewarded with a new contract as well, which has an option to extend.
Gumede joined Gallants before the start of the last season on a one-year deal and has recently been in talks with the Nedbank Cup finalists for a new contract.
Nonyane, meanwhile, has penned a new deal after initially joining the side on a two-year contract.
"Our skipper Lehlohonolo Nonyane, we are retaining him. We negotiated a two-year contract with him, meaning it's a one year and one year option," media liaison and communications manager Rufus Matsena told the Siya crew.
"Tshepo Gumede is one of the players whose contract we want to renew for three seasons. He has been an important part of our defence. He did very well, so we are working towards retaining him."
Gallants, meanwhile, are still in the market to sign a striker.
"Everything is pretty much the same. We still have (Phillip) Ndlondlo here. We haven't had offers coming through. Our squad is still intact. The most important part we need to reinforce is upfront. We need to work hard to acquire quality strikers. That's about it with the team," Matsena said.
"The only person we have known has left is Miguel Timm. He thanked the club for the opportunity we gave him. It's about growth. We wish him well there.
