Newly-appointed Maritzburg United coach John Maduka has explained his decision to leave Royal AM, after leading the DStv Premiership newbies to CAF competition spot.
The departure of Maduka came as a surprise to many, after a successful season with Royal and moving to the club's provincial rivals.
During the coach's unveiling on Wednesday, Maduka explained his decision.
"The decision had nothing to do with football. It was a personal one, which I had discussed with my family. It was well thought out. I had to think about myself and do what is best for me," Maduka told the media.
The Malawian admits it is a risk to take a job at a club like Maritzburg, but he is up to the challenge.
"Yes it is a risk, but I'm here now, up for the challenge. I would like to thank MaMkhize for everything, the board, players and everyone at the club. I enjoyed their support and it was about time I moved on," the coach added.
