Lorenzo Gordinho hasn't been back with the Glamour Boys for long since his loan with Bloemfontein Celtic came to an end, however, there was a spanner thrown into the works as he fractured his hand while playing for the Multichoice Diski Challenge team.
Gordinho, 24, underwent surgery on the injury earlier this month, and if all goes well should be back in action again next month as he recovers from what is not usually a long-term setback.
Chiefs have two games left this month – against Tornado FC in the Nedbank Cup and Cape Town City in the Absa Premiership – though those encounters are likely to come too soon for the talented defender as he tries to force his way into Ernst Middendorp's plans.
Usually, it takes around three weeks for a hand fracture to heal, and with the help of a wrist brace in the future, Gordinho could well be back out on the field next month to aid the club in their quest for silverware.
Chiefs currently have Itumeleng Khune, Ramahlwe Mphahlele, Philani Zulu, Erick Mathoho, Joseph Molangoane, Wiseman Meyiwa and now Lebogang Manyama who are all out of contention for first team action, though their exit from the CAF Confederation Cup may alleviate their schedule as they return to domestic competition only.
