Lebohang 'Cheeseboy' Mokoena has lashed out at critics for the comments made on the many draws played out by Swallows this season.
Following their impressive start to the 2020/21 season after being promoted from the GladAfrica Championship, the Dube Birds have had numerous draws which many in the fraternity feel have hindered what could have been a remarkable first season back in the top flight.
At some point this season, Swallows and Mamelodi Sundowns were the only unbeaten teams.
Brandon Truter's side has lost only one match but has drawn a whopping 18, which is now a PSL record, while sitting in fifth place on the DStv Premiership log.
"Sometimes you must let people talk, people will always have an opinion, but people don't always know the facts. Our team is a new team, and it's like a newborn baby, you can't expect a newborn baby to start making eggs for themselves. So, we are a team that is learning, and it's work in progress. We have youngsters that are coming in your Ngcobos, your Thibedis, your Mbokomas and Kagiso Malinga," Mokoena told the Siya crew.
"Some guys are new and have come to the league that is dominated by Sundowns, Pirates, Chiefs, SuperSport and Cape Town City among other clubs that have been in the league for a long time. You look at my team this season, I think we punched beyond where people thought we would punch. Some people were expecting us to be relegated and now people are talking about the draws, but teams must also come and beat us. It's better not to lose the points and that is very important. Look at where my team is sitting, first season, people don't want to talk and compliment these positives about the team that has just been promoted," the former Pirates and Sundowns star added.
