Kjell Jonevret's Record As Orlando Pirates Head Coach

Kjell Jonevret

Kjell Jonevret has lasted only five months as the head coach of Orlando Pirates, before parting ways with the club. Jonevret has led Orlando Pirates to two wins in 13 league games as their head coach and now with the appointment of Milutin 'Micho' Sredejovic, the fans have high hopes.

Read – Breaking: Pirates Coach Resigns

After the resignation of the Swede, from the head coach position he held at the club since February this year, the club has since appointed his replacement.

When he was announced as the Pirates coach on February 20, Jonevret took over the reins from Augusto Palacios. Palacios had been the team's interim coach since November last year, having taken over from Muhsin Ertugral, who resigned from the club their loss against SuperSport United on November 01.

Since being at the helm, Jonevret oversaw 13 league games for Bucs. His first game as Bucs coach was the 1-1 draw with Polokwane City on February 25, and the last was the 2-1 loss against Golden Arrows in May.

In their 13 games under the Swede, Pirates won two, drew seven and lost four on the way to their disappointing finish to the campaign.

Jonevret's league record at Bucs:

1-1 v Polokwane City,

1-1 v Kaizer Chiefs,

1-1 v SuperSport United,

2-3 v Free State Stars,

2-0 v Maritzburg United,

0-0 v Highlands Park,

1-1 v Baroka,

2-1 v Chippa United,

0-1 v Bidvest Wits,

0-2 v Mamelodi Sundowns,

0-0 v Bloemfontein Celtic,

0-0 v Ajax Cape Town, and

1-2 v Golden Arrows.

The Buccaneers finished the 2016/17 season in 11th place on the Absa Premiership log with a total of only six wins from 30 games.

The team finished with a points tally of 33, which was only six points more than relegated Highlands Park, who ended their PSL campaign with 27 points.

To his credit, Jonevret managed to send Bucs to the final of the Nedbank Cup, which they lost 4-1 against Matsatsantsa. With the 2017/18 season approaching, it remains to be seen how well Micho will do in his second stint at the club.
