Steven Pienaar
Kaizer Chiefs have admitted that their transfer policy in the past has not been up to scratch and could be looking to take a tried and tested route this time around. Read: MTN8 Quarterfinals Confirmed Club chairman, Kaizer Motaung, has explained recently that they have made 'wrong choices' in the market and Steve Komphela said over the weekend that they will be doing an 'audit' in the coming weeks. Now, according to Siya sources, there have been discussions at Naturena regarding the possibility of trying to lure Steven Pienaar back to South Africa, with the former Bafana Bafana captain currently available on a free transfer. Pienaar leaves English Premier League side, Sunderland, following their relegation into the Championship and the 35-year-old has hinted that he would be keen on making a return to the Premier Soccer League. He told Sky Sports this month, "I think I've still a got year in me but all of the injuries that I've had over the last two years, I don't think my body can take much more. "If it is up to me then you want to finish your career where it all started, which is back home. If I do get the opportunity then I'll take it with open arms." At this point, only been preliminary conversations took place regarding a move to Soweto for 'Schillo', however, given the Amakhosi's two trophyless seasons, they may look to bring in a player who, for many years, has been playing at the highest level.
