The 34-year-old player emerged at United as an exciting talent in 2007, playing alongside the likes of Thabo Mabaso, Katleho Loke, Tsepo Masilela and Bernard Parker. He later attracted the interest of Thanda, where he had a couple of decent season.
However, he has in the past couple of seasons disappeared into obscurity and has been plying his trade in the lower divisions. Mahlangu has informed the Siya crew that he is eyeing a permanent role in coaching, as he feels he has done his part in football.
"I am currently the assistant coach of Apollo XI in the ABC Motsepe League. Although I have not officially quit, I think I will be hanging up my boots soon, although my agent still wants me to play, ha, ha, ha.
"I am passionate about football and I have spent the better part of my life in the game, so I am ready to serve in any capacity going forward – be it in a coaching or managerial role. I know how to relate to and treat players and I want to impart my knowledge to the upcoming generation," he told the Siya crew.
