Insiders: Sundowns Make Zwane Decision?

Siya sources close to Sundowns and the player have indicated that the Brazilians had offered the Bafana Bafana star a one-year deal with an additional one-year option, potentially extending his stay until June 2027.

The insiders added that the new contract is nearly finalised, with successful negotiations even though Zwane is currently sidelined with an injury sustained during Bafana Bafana duty.

"The new deal is as good as done and the coach has played an important part in that. As a way of honouring him, the club has given him a one-year contract offer plus a one-year option as they want him to be part of the FIFA Club World Cup in June and that's when his contract was supposed to expire. They believe it's a good move as he has dedicated his life to the club for a long time and the new deal is more of a reward for his dedication and commitment to the club," the Siya source stated.

Meanwhile, coach Cardoso informed journalists following their 4-1 victory over TS Galaxy that Zwane, along with defenders Mothobi Mvala, Divine Lunga, and Khuliso Mudau, are making good progress in recovering from their injuries.

"They will come much sooner than the Club World Cup. Let's hope because it's one thing to have physical recovery to play football but another thing is to recover to perform. That's another step. You need to understand that. He might be able to train, but to be able to perform is another step. We should also understand that because he can train with the team, it doesn't mean he is able to play a game in high intensity games. That's another thing," Cardoso told journalists.

Zwane, currently the longest-serving member of Sundowns, has been with the club since his days at Vardos FC. He was part of the 2016 team that won the CAF Champions League. Due to his injury, which sidelined him for nearly five month, Zwane was not able to make an impact this season.

Soccer Laduma contacted Sundowns for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.
