SIYA SPECIAL
Newly crowned Nedbank Cup winners, Kaizer Chiefs have a lot to do before the start of next season and high on their list is sorting out a goalkeeping department that has let the team down on quite a number of occasions in the last few campaigns. Amakhosi are believed to be in the market for a new goalkeeper and will take their search beyond South African borders to ensure they have a reliable shotstopper to help them challenge for titles consistently. Soccer Laduma looks into the matter.
KUTLWANO LETLHAKU
After a promising start to the season under Manqoba Mngqithi at Mamelodi Sundowns, Kutlwano Letlhaku has found the going tough with Miguel Cardoso at the helm in terms of game time. But Letlhaku put that behind him for some time as he was part of the national U20 team that made history by becoming the first group from South Africa to win the Africa Cup of Nations, which was recently completed in Egypt. It could just do the trick in allowing him to get more game time at Sundowns going forward. Talking to Soccer Laduma, the former School of Excellence player shares his feelings on winning AFCON and the difficulty of getting game time at Sundowns, who are going to play in the CAF Champions League final this weekend.
MAHLATSE MAKUDUBELA
Orlando Pirates have been linked with Frenchman Bruno Ferry following the departure of coach Jose Riveiro. Ferry’s name might not ring loudly in South African football circles, but in African football, he’s a respected tactician who has made an impact in leagues like Tanzania’s Premier League and the DR Congo’s Linafoot. One player who knows the coach better than most is former Pirates midfielder and current AS Vita Club star Mahlatse Makudubela. The 35-year-old winger believes that Ferry is a strategist, a father figure, and a coach who knows how to get the best out of his players. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, the well-travelled attacker opens up about life under Ferry, the possible fit at Pirates, and why playing abroad has shaped him into a more complete player.

Raymond Mdaka
South Africa’s U20 side Amajita made history by winning their maiden CAF U20 Africa Cup of Nations title after beating Morocco 1-0 in the final in Egypt last Sunday. It was payback time as the only time South Africa previously featured in this tournament’s final was back in 1997 when they lost 1-0 to Morocco. In this interview with Soccer Laduma, Amajita coach Raymond Mdaka emphasises the importance of winning the tournament and qualifying for the FIFA World Cup.
International Feature
Manchester United’s collapse this season is nothing short of spectacular, with the club now poised for their worst ever campaign in Premier League history. The Red Devils, marred by issues both on and off the pitch, are set to finish the season in the bottom half of the table for the first time in the Premier League era. But how did things get to this point? Soccer Laduma investigates how one of the world’s most iconic clubs is enduring its worst-ever season and what this might mean for the future.
Revolving Column
This week we hear from former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye on the Motsepe Foundation Championship.
