His last stint in the Absa Premiership was marred by controversy after Chippa United announced his signing form Jomo Cosmos; however, he did not fit into coach Dan Malesela's plans and was released shortly thereafter.
But there could be a return to the PSL for former Chippa United utility player Thapelo Tlabakwe.

Following his short stay with the Chilli Boys, Tlabakwe resurfaced in Botswana where he was initially spotted, joining up with Security Systems FC.
Now, with unfinished business in his homeland, the former North West University player spoke to the Siya crew, explaining his plans to join an unnamed PSL outfit for pre-season training at the end of the 2019/20 season.
"I recently parted ways with my agent and I am on the verge on joining another agency. Something that I cannot disclose for now. We have a plan of how I will return to the PSL, so hopefully it goes accordingly. I'm still on lockdown in Botswana so at the moment my team here needs my services, but there is a PSL team that I will be joining for pre-season," he said.

A potential stumbling block for the 27-year-old, however is the travel restrictions into South Africa. With all boarders still closed, it remains to be seen whether the versatile player, who hails from Rustenburg, will be able to make his way into the country.
Meanwhile his current team, have also offered him a contract extension, something that he is strongly considering, should the travel restrictions continue.
"My team has offered me a contract renewal which I am considering, because I am still locked down this side and I also need to survive, so I need an income. I am thinking about the renewal until of course, everything is back to normal and I can come back home and join the team for training, although I might have to spend another season this side," Tlabakwe concluded.
