DStv Premiership Report: SuperSport United v TS Galaxy 05 November 2021

SuperSport United jumped to third spot on the DStv Premiership standings with a come-from-behind victory over TS Galaxy on Friday evening.

Result: SuperSport United 2-1 TS Galaxy

Date: 05 November 2021

Venue: Lucas Moripe Stadium

Matsatsantsa were boosted by the return of Bradley Grobler, Tebogo Mokoena and Siyabonga Nhlapo while the Rockets made only one change, as Menzi Ndwandwe got his first start of the season.

United were threatening to get an early goal in the opening exchanges and Thamsanqa Gabuza had a chance to give them the lead in the 14th minute after a cut-back by Guily Manziba but he blazed his effort over the bar.

The match was temporarily suspended midway through the first stanza for ten minutes or so following inclement weather that had rain, winds and lightning.

However, after a brief break, the match resumed and SuperSport continued to ask questions of Galaxy and Manziba had a chance to break the deadlock just before the half-time interval after latching onto a corner inside the box but he ballooned his effort over the bar.

Kaitano Tembo's charges were missing chances after the half-time break and they were punished just after the hour-mark as Sinethemba Mngomezulu broke the deadlock for the visitors with a strike through the legs of Ronwen Williams he was played in by Marks Munyai.

Tembo responded by making a triple attacking change immediately thereafter, as Sipho Mbule replaced Manziba, Kudakwashe Mahachi came on for Onismor Bhasera and Iqraam Rayners came on for Jamie Webber.

The substitutions had the desired effect on the game, as Matsatsantsa were awarded a penalty in the last 18 minutes after Gabuza was brought down inside the box. The former Orlando Pirates took responsibility and made no mistake from 12 yards out.

Mbule completed the turnaround two minutes later as he gave United the lead with a superb finish after from the edge fo the box after eliminating two Galaxy defenders.

Sead Ramovic's troops, meanwhile, were unable to find a way past the SuperSport defence in the closing stages as Tembo's troops held on for maximum points.
