Cosafa Cup Final
Result: Namibia 2-0 Mozambique
Date: 30 May 2015
Venue: Moruleng Stadium
A brace from Deon Hotto helped Namibia beat Mozambique 2-0 to clinch the Cosafa Cup trophy on Saturday evening.
The first 10 minutes proved to be a cagey affair but Namibia did go close when Peter Shalulile fired a long range effort over the crossbar.
The Namibians went close again in the 23rd minute, when Benson Shilongo met Shalulile's cross but he ended up heading just wide of the upright.
And Namibia broke the deadlock in the 35th minute, as Deon Hotto raced onto Benson Shilongo's through-ball, before lobbing the on-rushing Cesar Machava for his third goal of the tournament.
Chris Katjiukua came to Namibia's rescue just before the halftime break, as he acrobatically cleared a goal-bound effort off the line.
Mozambique looked for an equaliser as the second half went on, but they were restricted to long range efforts, none of which troubled Namibia goalkeeper, Virgil Vries.
However, it was Namibia who got the next of goal of the game, as Hotto fired a deflected effort past Machava for his second of the game and the fourth of the tournament.
Mozambique came close to pulling a goal back in the 87th minute but Vries was on hand to keep out Diogo Alberto's curling free-kick.
Nonethless, Namibia managed to see out the final stages of the half and went on to be crowned Cosafa Cup champions.
Meanwhile, Madagascar defeated Botswana 2-1 earlier in the day to claim third spot at the Cosafa Cup.
