Chippa United have communicated plans for their technical team and have confirmed placing caretaker coach Kurt Lentjies on special leave.
Following the departure of Gavin Hunt from the club in December, after he was initially placed on suspension, the Chilli Boys appointed Lentjies as the team's interim coach.
The former midfielder led the side to a 14th place finish at the end of the 2021/22 season and Chippa have now confirmed that they are 'deliberating the vacancy of the head coach position', while the club has placed Lentjies on special leave.
The Gqeberha-based club has issued a statement confirming its technical team plans for the new season.
"Position of Chippa United Head Coach
"This serves to advise that Chippa United Football Club is still in the process of deliberating the vacancy of the head coach position. Since the departure of coach Gavin Hunt, the club has not permanently filled the vacancy. During this period player Kurt Lentjies acted as the interim coach.
"Whilst pondering the way forward on the head coaching position and holding interviews etc and allowing the process to take place in the most fair manner, the club has taken a decision to place Kurt Lentjies, who naturally has an interest in the matter, on special leave. The club will issue a statement upon its decision on the way forward," reads the statement.
