The Citizens will lock horns with defending champions, Bidvest Wits at the Bidvest Stadium tonight, August, 18, in their opening 2017/18 Absa Premiership encounter.
City's Johannes, who's been one of the most influential players for the Mother city-based club in defence, has spoken of the team's challenge of coming up against the Clever Boys tonight.
"Yeah, obviously it's the first game of the season and it's against the defending champions, we know that it is going to be a really difficult game, a big battle, they are a very difficult team to play against, they (Bidvest Wits) are very organized, you know, their squad is filled with top quality players," Johannes told the Siya crew.
"So, we have to be up for the challenge, but I think that we've prepared well and you know the first game of the season, we are hoping that we get the league off to a good start which is important," he added.

"Obviously, the new coach, he is a winner and that is one thing that I know about him. Everything he's got is because of his commitment, his attitude, his dedication and love for the game," Johannes said.
"He spent his whole career in Europe, so he brings a totally different mentality, which I think will help us going forward. So we are looking forward to another successful season and hopefully, we can do one better than we did last season. But, I think that is the challenge we have to prove that last season wasn't a fluke," the player concluded.
