Orlando Pirates have confirmed that the club has released Takesure Chinyama and Onyekachi Okonkwo from their contracts.
Yesterday, the Siya crew broke the news that the duo would be released, after the duo did not train with the rest of the squad on Monday and Tuesday.
??"Orlando Pirates Football Club would like to confirm that midfielder Onyekachi Okonkwo and striker Takesure Chinyama will not be part of the squad for the 2013/14 season," read a statement on orlandopiratesfc.com.
"Both players were handed letters last week by management confirming their releases. The club would like to thank Mr Okonkwo and Mr Chinyama for their services and wish them the best in their future endeavours," added the statement.
It was reported on Tuesday by Soccer-Laduma that Chinyama could be joining Bloemfontein Celtic in a swap deal that would see Lennox Bacela joining Bucs. With the latest news, there will be no swap deal, although Bacela is still likely to join Pirates. It remains to be seen if Siwelele will look at bringing Chinyama to the Free State.
Meanwhile, Soccer-Laduma can confirm that William Twala and Joseph Molangoane are part of the Bucs squad currently camping in Johannesburg.
Twala has returned to Pirates, following his loan spell with Chippa United, while Molangoane spent last season with AmaZulu, on loan from Platinum Stars.
Orlando Pirates and Kaizer Chiefs will clash on July 27, with the title of 2013 Carling Black Label Cup champions up for grabs.
