According to a statement on the official Pirates website, Lekgwathi, who is yet to play any official game for Bucs this season, has started light training, but will go for a medical test later today.
"Lucky started light training on Monday. He will go for a medical test on Tuesday (today). So far he is okay – we need to know how ready he is to resume full training with the rest of the squad; that is why he is going for a medical test," read the statement.
The 38-year-old defender sustained an injury on his left leg, which has kept him away from training for the past two weeks.
"OPFC.com will keep you posted on Lekgwathi's medical results which should be available later this afternoon," added the statement.
Meanwhile, the club medical team has reported no major injury concerns after last weekend's match against Bidvest Wits, meaning that coach Vladimir Vermezovic will work with a full squad ahead of Wednesday night's clash against Mamelodi Sundowns.
