"We used to have some of the best players coming from Cameroon and Ghana coming here. Now we are taking players from Burundi. We used to have some of the best players from Zambia and Zimbabwe coming here. Now Zambia has players playing in the (English) Premier League and we have zero and we keep saying that this is the best league in Africa. We are lying to ourselves. We need to be honest. If you want to change anything it starts with you. You need to be honest with yourself. But for as long as we are beating our own drum and patting ourselves on the back, then we are going nowhere," Baloyi said recently at a Hollywoodbets event.
"All these things I am saying are facts. We used to attract some of the best players from Zimbabwe and a lot of other countries. They knew that this was the stepping-stone to Europe. But not anymore. A lot of them used to come here and then go to Europe. But Europe is not even looking at the foreigners that we are bringing here."

Zimbabwean international Nyasha Munetsi is a player who made a move from the PSL to the French Ligue 1 and he has done quite well for Stade Reims. Teenage Hadebe also left Kaizer Chiefs for a move to Turkey to Yeni, who were competing in the topflight before getting relegated last season. Hadebe has since made a move to the USA to play in Major League Soccer.
