AmaZulu Money Woes Continue As Agent Claims Non-Payment

AmaZulu Money Woes Continue As Agent Claims Non-Payment

A prominent football agent is making claims of alleged non-payment for his services by an Absa Premiership club.

As reported in edition 1170 of Soccer Laduma, AmaZulu FC have been accused of allegedly backtracking from an agreement to pay Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi – the Rush Hour Sports Management intermediary, for his role in the appointment of Jozef Vukusic by the club as their head coach last year.

Last month, the Durban-based club placed Vukusic on special leave and subsequently tasked assistant coach Ayanda Dlamini to take charge of the first team on an interim basis, with goalkeeper Moeneeb Josephs working alongside the ex-striker as his assistant.

"The issue here is that I am owed money by AmaZulu for my services of getting them Vukusic to coach the club. I worked very hard in getting the coach from Slovakia and down to Durban, and in getting him the work permit and all the documents allowing him to work here. I worked very hard in negotiating for him to get a good deal at AmaZulu as he is one of the highest-paid coaches in the PSL. But what is heart-breaking is that I did all of that for nothing. I worked for nothing!" Mulovhedzi told the Siya crew.

"I have been back and forth with AmaZulu about my payment and they kept postponing the dates. I have since told Lunga Sokhela that they can keep the money and I am moving on after I was told that the coach chose to stay in an expensive apartment near the beach, and that the money was used to pay for that and the other things in his flashy lifestyle. I wasn't aware of any of those things as they were done without my knowledge," the intermediary added.

AmaZulu's general manager Lunga Sokhela told the Siya crew, "The reality is that this deal is a deal between the coach and his agent. They must agree to this thing – it's not our place to decide who represents the coach. I mean, we took instruction from the coach that he is no longer represented by him and that he wasn't happy about the contract negotiations. We can't go beyond that and force the coach to appoint a representative.
