AmaZulu FC head coach Benni McCarthy is not worried about people's opinions regarding their new signing Pule Ekstein.

As previously reported by the Siya crew, the Usuthu head coach confirmed the signing of two former Kaizer Chiefs stars, Ekstein and Kgotso Moleko.

Ekstein parted ways with Amakhosi back in 2019, while Moleko was confirmed as one of several departures at Naturena recently.

Speaking to the media ahead of their MTN8 quarterfinal clash against Cape Town City this weekend, McCarthy revealed that he has been monitoring and keeping in touch with Ekstein for over a year.

"Pule Ekstein, I've been in contact with him for over a year, I always touched base with him when he was in Azerbaijani, he is a player that I always wanted to work with," he told the media.

"I spoke to the President and the board and said that this is a player I would like to have, he can give us different dynamics, the way he plays - he can give flair, he's got quality."

McCarthy says he knows people will hold their own opinions about Pule but revealed that his experience will be huge because football abroad is totally different compared to the Premier Soccer League.

"He's been in Europe for two years, I know people will say it is just a small country (Azerbaijan) but it still Europe, the level is higher than what we have, so he comes with experience, he will just lift the boys up."
