Ajax Cape Town are set to face National First Division highflyers, Stellenbosch FC, in a friendly at Ikamva this morning (Wednesday).
Interestingly, this encounter is the first match being played on the club's B Field following a lengthy re-surfacing programme.
"It's not a Wembley by any stretch of the imagination," a source told Soccer Laduma. "But we tried to get the ground in the best possible condition as there's such a shortage in Cape Town. Ajax has only been training there since March 1.
"With Stellenbosch in third position, it should be a competitive match. Hopefully they'll put out a decent team as this game's a nice opportunity to give our full-time MDC professionals a run. An internal match is not quite the same."
Stellenbosch's technical director, Steve Barker, is also looking forward to this friendly.
"It'll be good to give the fringe players a run," he said.
In November last year, Stellenbosch first succumbed to a 6-1 defeat in a similar fixture before overpowering the Urban Warriors 3-0.
