Abraham 'Waya' Nteo has taken over as the caretaker coach at NFD side African Warriors, after David Vilakazi was sacked last Saturday.
Balekile Mzangwa, the managing director of the team, confirmed the latest developments at the club.
"Yes, it is true that he (Vilakazi) is no longer our coach. We amicably parted ways and we wish him all the best in his coaching career," he said.
Vilakazi's contract was going to end in June after he has secured an 18- month deal towards the end of last season.
Mzangwa said they were not happy with the team's performance and pointed out that they were quite aware that it was not too early to have taken the decision.
"We did not only judge him on the five games that we have played this season. We looked at all the games where he guided the team since he arrived. Out of 12 games, he had only managed to win two games and believe you me, that was not a good record," he said.
It is believed that Nteo will remain as the caretaker coach until a new coach is announced.
Nteo is no stranger to the role, as he was in charge of a few games after the departure of Thami Ngubane.
His first test comes this evening when they face Garankuwa United in a league encounter at the Pilditch Stadium.
