There are a whopping eight different players suspended for this week's round of midweek games in the Absa Premiership.

We're now well and truly into the business end of the league for 2018/19, and there is a battle going on at both ends of the table as clubs fight for supremacy and survival in South Africa's top-flight.

The first of the clubs this week, who will be affected by suspensions, is Chippa United when they face Mamelodi Sundowns this afternoon, with both Zitha Macheke and Gladwin Shitolo having to sit this one out following their yellow cards in the Nedbank Cup semifinal against Kaizer Chiefs.
Then later this evening, Golden Arrows will have to go up against the Amakhosi without their top creator, Danny Venter, after he was also booked over the weekend, but it is Wednesday's games when the majority of the suspensions come into play.

On Wednesday, AmaZulu have Butholezwe Ncube and Marc van Heerden suspended for their encounter with SuperSport United, Baroka's Rodwell Chinyengetere and Sifiso Mbhele of Free State Stars will miss that bottom-of-the-table clash, and Allan Kateregga's absence will be felt by Maritzburg United when they go up against the title-chasing Orlando Pirates.
