Kaizer Chiefs remain in danger of losing their captain, Tefu Mashamaite, with the 30-year-old centre back yet to put pen to paper on a new deal at the club.
It had been thought that ‘Masha’ had, in principle, agreed to extending his stay at Naturena beyond the end of the season, however until a new deal has been signed, his future will continue to be uncertain.
The central defender is well into the last six months of his current contract at present, and should his future not be sorted out by June, then there is a chance of him leaving elsewhere on a free transfer.
Chiefs have already lost Kingston Nkhatha to SuperSport United in a similar situation after he signed a pre-contract in Tshwane, and the Amakhosi supporters will no doubt be worried about the chance of that happening with Mashamaite too.
As reported in the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, it is thought that the defender is keen to remain at Naturena beyond this season, however as long as contract talks continue to drag out, the chances of that happening will get slimmer.
