Manchester United legend Sir Alex Ferguson has revealed who he is backing for the 2016 Ballon d'Or, an award many believe will once again go to either Cristiano Ronaldo or Lionel Messi.

The Scotsman is one of the many names backing the former Manchester United star for the prestigious accolade, insisting that nobody else has achieved what he has this calendar year.
"Nobody is better than Cristiano for the Ballon d'Or," Ferguson said, according to Marca.
"He had a marvellous year and his achievements this season are second to none.
"Cristiano Ronaldo's determination and his desire to be the best reach obsessive levels."
The 31-year-old won the UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid and the 2016 European Championship with Portugal this year.

Many fans and critics alike are backing Ronaldo for the award due to the trophies he has won in 2016, but quite a few players and pundits have thrown their support behind Messi for the accolade.
