UEFA Champions League Result: Real Madrid 2-2 Dortmund Date: 7 December 2016 Venue: Santiago Bernabeu Dortmund qualified top of Group F after a late equaliser saw them draw 2-2 against Real Madrid on Wednesday. Andre Schurrle had an early chance that he hit over the bar, but it was Los Blancos who looked more threatening early in the game. Cristiano Ronaldo created two chances, setting up Karim Benzema and James Rodriguez, but neither man could beat the goalkeeper. However, in the 28th minute Real took the lead when Daniel Carvajal marauded down the right wing before drilling a cross towards Benzema who dinked it home from close range. Schurrle was close to equalising when his free kick went through the Real wall, but Keylor Navas pulled off a superb fingertip save to maintain the lead. Zinedine Zidane's charges doubled their lead eight minutes into the second half when great work from James on the left resulted in a cross from the young winger picking out Benzema who completed his brace with a textbook header at the far post. The German outfit were back in the game on the hour mark thanks to Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang's simple finish following a low cross from Julian Weigl on the left. Ronaldo came close to finding his first goal of the night when he tried to bend a shot towards the top corner, but Roman Weidenfeller made a good save. Towards the end Ronaldo came even closer. He controlled the ball well to set himself for a shot at goal, but with only the goalkeeper to beat he hit the post. In the 88th minute Dortmund found their equaliser in fine style. A quick counter attack saw Aubameyang turn provider with a cross from the right that found Marco Reus who slotted it to put the visitors back on top of the group.
