Mamelodi Sundowns have activated the one-year option they had on Siyanda Zwane’s contract to keep him in Pitso Mosimane’s team for the 2017/18 season.
The defender joins the likes of Leonardo Castro and Wayne Arendse, whose options on their contracts have been exercised, as reported by the Siya crew and confirmed by the Chloorkop club.
Zwane, 31, will be in his fourth season with Downs in the 2017/18 campaign, having first joined the club in 2014 from Golden Arrows. The player’s agent, Mandla Mthembu, has told the Siya crew that the aim for them as Zwane’s representatives is to secure a long-term future for the club.
“In terms of the feedback from the club, Siyanda is a very likeable guy and has (a) positive influence in the dressing room. Having said that, we are still engaging with the club in an effort to secure his long-term future. We do not want a situation whereby six months down the line he finds himself uncertain of his future. He wants security so he can fully focus on the field of play,” said Mthembu.
