Rantie Touches Down, Set For Debut

AFC Bournemouth’s record signing, Tokelo Rantie, looks set to make his debut for the club against Barnsley tonight.

The 23-year-old Bafana Bafana striker joined The Cherries before the close of last month’s transfer window, although his arrival was delayed due to Rantie’s international duties.

However, the forward has now touched down in England and had his first training session with Eddie Howe and his new teammates yesterday (Monday).

Speaking to the Bournemouth Echo this week the club’s assistant coach, Jason Tindall, hinted that he could make his debut against The Tykes. He said, “It was important he trained to get it out of his system. He needs to relax and recuperate and make sure he is ready for tomorrow because he will go straight into the squad.

“We looked at so many strikers in England and all over Europe to try to find one that fitted into our philosophy and the style of football we play. We kept coming back to TK.

“Without wanting to put too much pressure on him, when people see him, they will realise what a quality player he is.

“He is certainly an explosive player. He is dynamic and has fantastic ability to beat people. He is a great addition for the squad and will strengthen us in that area.”

Rantie will be hoping to help his new club get back to winning ways following their loss to Blackpool last week.
