Rantie – Homeward Bound?

Tokelo Rantie has not played a competitive game of football in nearly a year now, with his last match being played in October 2017, and it could be time for him to return to South Africa.
Rantie, who was last on the books of Genclerbirligi in Turkey, is currently on the lookout for the next chapter of his career, and will be eager to get playing again after 10 months away from the game.
Mamelodi Sundowns are one team who are known to have shown an interest in the burly striker, while both Kaizer Chiefs and Orlando Pirates would also no doubt be interested if the opportunity arises to snap him up.
The Siya crew spoke to Rantie’s agent, Denis Celebic, in this week’s issue of Soccer Laduma, who gave an update on the player’s situation, admitting that a decision hasn’t been made regarding his next move.
Celebic said, “Tokelo is weighing up his options as of now, and when he is ready to make a decision on what club he wants to go to, he will do just that.”
It is thought that Rantie is open to a return to South Africa, though would prefer a move elsewhere in Europe, though his situation – and lack of game time this year – may now leave him with limited options.
