Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Pitso Mosimane says that the FIFA delegation visited South Africa at the right time to see how the supporters came out in numbers to witness this weekend’s clash.
Sundowns locked horns with Kaizer Chiefs at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, January 27, where there were believed to be more than 70 000 supporters at the stadium.
Speaking after the game, Mosimane described the encounter as one of the biggest in Africa despite playing to a goalless draw, saying that maybe only a match between Zamalek and Al Ahly could attract so many fans to a stadium.
“I think FIFA came at the right time, a big game, where can you find that in Africa, maybe unless Zamalek is playing Al Ahly, I don’t see it anywhere else. This is big, that’s why I say sometimes we underestimate our league or undermine our league. Our league is top,” he said.
