University of Pretoria will not be releasing striker, Geoffrey Massa, for this weekend’s African Cup of Nations qualifier between Uganda and Mauritania.
The Cranes take a 2-0 lead into the second leg after they beat Mauritania at home, with Massa scoring the second goal in that victory.
However, with the game not being on a registered FIFA date, Tuks are under no obligation to release the forward for the second leg, and their head coach, Steve Barker, has confirmed that the 28-year-old will not be travelling with his national team.
Speaking to the media, Barker said, “It’s not a FIFA weekend, and we feel that we’re too close to the season to risk him being away. We have a very important game coming up, two games in the space of four days, and we need Geoffrey available and training with us.
“Unfortunately, as much as we’d like to help, in this instance we feel that it’s important for us to have him here.”
Tuks face Polokwane City on August 9th before taking on Bidvest Wits four days later.
