Pitso Mosimane Congratulates Gavin Hunt For Wits League Title

Mamelodi Sundowns coach, Pitso Mosimane, has congratulated Bidvest Wits’ Gavin Hunt for winning the Absa Premiership title.

The Students have taken the honours for the league title for the 2016/17 season, following their 2-0 win over Polokwane City on Wednesday evening.

While it is the first time that the Braamfontein outfit has won the league in their history, Hunt is winning it for the fourth time as he won back-to-back titles with SuperSport United between 2008 and 2010 during his time coaching the Tshwane club.

Hunt has been getting messages from the football fraternity congratulating him on a job well done and the Sundowns Champions League-winning coach has joined in with good wishes to the Wits mentor.

Mosimane took to the Sundowns’ official website to congratulate Hunt not only for his latest title with Wits but all four that he has won in his coaching career.

“I would like to congratulate ‘Huntie’ for winning his fourth league title. It was a healthy and competitive race and he deserves the title.

“This is the beauty of football, let’s do it again next season,” Mosimane told the Sundowns website.

Sundowns are currently in second place and behind Wits on the log. The Brazilians will want to win their game against Highlands Park to finish the season as runners-up to the Students.

There is no reason for him to be Jealous he is the one who handedly given Hunt the glory. Pitso was the one choosing players for us the whole season. He complained about fatigue of which that is wrong. He made lot of mistakes during our campaign. Its over now its of no use to dwell on past mistakes.

The embattled Amakhosi coach has been backed once again by a high-ranking club official Kaizer Chiefs football manager Bobby Motaung has backed coach Steve Komphela amidst growing pressure from the club’s faithful to give him the boot. “You can’t change coaches like that. How many years did it take for Gavin Hunt to be fighting to win the league (with Bidvest Wits)? It’s the same story with Pitso (Mosimane). “He got there (at Mamelodi Sundowns) when they were buying everyone. But he changed that. Chiefs took 47 years to be where it is today. It has never been about overnight success- we don’t want that,” Motaung told The Sowetan. Amakhosi have under Komphela's guidence experienced a second season without a major trophy. “We will be having workshops next week to review the season. But the idea that we can dispose a coach after he has worked hard to build a team over two years doesn’t apply to us. “Imagine if we fire him now and another coach comes in to ride on his hard work? The truth is Steve has been unfortunate. We have played well this season. How do you blame him for the last-minute goals we conceded in the latter part of the title race?” Motaung adumbrated. Motaung, who continues to bear the brunt of the club’s supporters also praised Komphela for introducing youngsters like Lorenzo Gordinho, Pule Ekstein and Ryan Moon," he added. “Steve has been brave enough to change the team and promote players who were not given a chance before. But sometimes out fans are not patient. They want results now,” Motaung concluded.

Mxmm after the game Pitso was bitter, asked about PSL newly crowned champs & he was busy talking about downs playing 50+ games, talking about Pirates in 1995, infact he was not making sense...He is always like this.

'Jingles' believes the club’s heavy schedule due to both domestic and CAF competition was their main undoing and says next term they will not be investing much first-team effort in the likes of the MTN8 and Telkom Knockout campaigns. "Maybe next year, when it [the fixture pile-up] goes like this again we are going to compromise local cups in the [PSL] and leave them, focus on [CAF] Champions League and the [domestic] league and leave all this Telkom [Knockout] and all that,” said Mosimane. “All these don’t help. Remember, when we are playing the game against Maritzburg United, it cost us in Maritzburg. I had to play the likes of Julies and everybody in the first game against Marzitburg because I had a game in the semi-finals of the Champions League against the mighty Zesco. Maybe take this Telkom [Knockout] and all this and maybe give it to [Sundowns’] MDC team,” he added. Mosimane believes his team lost the league when they were forced to play four games in eight days, including the clash against Chippa United which was played over two days following a power failure in Tshwane. "The title was lost when we played on Saturday, we played Tuesday, we played Wednesday and we played Friday. We played four games in eight days and that’s where the title [was lost],” he said. "You remember when we played Tuesday and Wednesday against Chippa and played on Friday against Cape Town City, a well-rested team in the league. That's where the title was lost. We got two points out of 15, that’s where the title was lost,” Mosimane added.... #PROUDLY INKOSI YAMABLOGGERS YANGEMPELA#
