Mpontshane has seemingly moved further down the pecking order at Pirates, with the club having removed Felipe Ovono from the transfer list.
The Buccaneers currently have Ovono, Brighton Mhlongo, Jackson Mabokgwane and Mpontshane in the goalkeeping department for the season.
It is believed that Mpontshane has become increasingly frustrated with his lack of game time at Bucs, since joining the club from Platinum Stars in January last year.
Sources have indicated that Ea Lla Koto are interested in the player, as coach Denis Lavagne and his technical team are looking at options to reinforce their goalkeeping department.
Stars recently signed Congo national team goalkeeper Christopher Mafoumbi in a bid to strengthen that area, as reported by the Siya crew.
