Orlando Pirates have confirmed that experienced defender Happy Jele is expected to return to training, after missing the team’s MTN8 quarter-final game against Bidvest Wits on the weekend.
Jele played alongside Ayanda Gcaba in central defence for Muhsin Ertugral’s side during the team’s 3-1 win over Golden Arrows in the opening game of the season.
Jele’s absence in the line-up came as a blow in the MTN8 as Bucs lost 2-1 to the Students on Saturday evening. Pirates confirmed on the club’s official website that Jele is expected to return to training by the end of the week.
Defender Happy Jele is expected to return to full training by the end of the week. Jele, who missed Orlando Pirates’ defeat in the MTN8 due to an injury is said to be making good progress. According to the medical team, Jele suffered a hamstring strain in Pirates’ 3-1 win over Golden Arrows last week. He has undergone rehabilitation and is making good progress. The lanky defender is due to start with final phase of rehabilitation.
The Buccaneers have also given update on Gladwin Shitolo and Thembela Sikhakhane’s respective injuries.
Meanwhile, Orlandopiratesfc.com can also confirm that defender Gladwin Shitolo, is due to go for a scan to determine the extent of the recovery of a Grade 2 quad tear he suffered in a practice match against Bloemfontein Celtic last month.
Shitolo is nearing recovery and should rejoin the rest of his teammates by the beginning of next week.
