A Lawyer Representing Patrick Tignyemb Has Lashed Out At Bloemfontein Celtic

Patrick Tignyemb

Two weeks ago, the Siya crew reported that Bloemfontein Celtic received a transfer ban from FIFA, following a contractual dispute involving the club's former player Patrick Tignyemb.

The news of the ban comes after Celtic was found guilty last year by the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) for the unfairly dismissal of the Cameroonian goalkeeper and allegedly not compensating him.

Speaking to the Siya crew at the time, SAFA CEO Tebogo Motlanthe confirmed that a letter from FIFA has been received by the association informing them of the latest regarding the Mangaung club.

Looking forward, Tignyemb's lawyer Johnny Precious, has lashed out at Siwelele and demanding a settlement for the 35-year-old shot-stopper.

Tignyemb confirmed in edition 1209 of Soccer Laduma that he is owed R3 million by the Free State club.

"Bloemfontein Celtic did not treat my client right after 11 years of service and as their captain. Thy discarded him like that and we took the case to the appropriate authorities and by God's grace we succeeded in our claim. Celtic wanted an appeal, but the appeal got thrown out and justice was done," said Precious.

"I think the best thing to move forward is for Celtic to settle the claim immediately. My client has moved on with his life and with his career and Celtic also need to do the same in order to move on with their own operations, because unless they up the money they will continue to be on that FIFA ban. Going forward, they should learn from this situation on how to treat their players. Players deserve more respect, and when a player is not treated right, he is within his rights to seek compensation from the appropriate authorities, which Patrick has done," the legal representative added.
