It was recently reported on the Soccer-Laduma web and mobi-site that a move abroad for former Wits midfielder Ntokozo Sikhakhane is on the cards.
Sikhakhane has struggled to find a club since he was deemed surplus to requirements at Wits at the end of last season and has since attended a trial with NFD outfit, Milano United, although without success.
However, the latest news reaching the Siya crew is that Sikhakhane has jetted out of the country to attend a trial in Turkey, with the help of former Kaizer Chiefs striker, Nkosinathi ‘Chippa’ Nhleko.
The former Bloemfontein Celtic and AmaZulu player is in the company of Sandile Zuke and Gordon Gilbert, in his search of a new club in Turkey. The player’s agent Erika Bester, who is an associate of Nhleko in his new career as a football agent, confirmed that the former Bafana Bafana player left the country this week.
Bester explained that a group of players are in Europe with Nhleko where they will partake in a tournament.
“I can confirm that most players left on Monday evening to Turkey. They are competing in the tournament there, and Chippa is with them. I can confirm that. I’m not discussing the names of the players. The players left on Monday evening,” said Bester.
Nhleko had previously told the Siya crew that he is working on a project to create opportunities for local players abroad.
“There are clubs from all over Europe that are participating in a preseason tournament there. We are participating there because I got an invitation to bring a team. I’m just selecting my own team to see if those players will get an opportunity,” said Nhleko at the time.
The three former PSL players are in the company of several talented youngsters, selected by Nhleko, as he aims to secure them contracts abroad.
