Following their relegation to the National First Division, it has become increasingly unlikely that Highlands Park will be able to keep Moeketsi Sekola in their squad for next season.
The Lions of the North signed Sekola on a pre-contract in January and the player’s contract with Free State Stars will be coming to an end in June. By agreeing to sign a three-year pre-contract with Highlands Park, the former PSL top goal scorer thought the club would still be campaigning in Mzansi’s top tier for the 2017/18 season.
But with the club having been relegated at the weekend, there could be a change of plan for the 27-year-old player, as confirmed by his agent, Ratshibvumo Mulovhedzi.
“I will be meeting with Highlands Park about Moeketsi Sekola to discuss the way forward. What I can tell you is that there are other clubs that are interested in the player. But like I have told you, I will be meeting with Highlands Park and we will take everything from there,” said Mulovhedzi.
